Solebury Township is abuzz with discussions over the naming of a new park currently being developed on a 12-acre tract that was formerly a flea market, located along Route 202, writes Greg Vellner for The Reporter.

Three years ago, the township secured $2.35 million to purchase this land, with the vision of transforming it into a public space.

Recent talks initiated by the Board of Supervisors have led to a debate over the park’s name, reflecting the community’s engagement and interest.

Mark Baum-Baiker, chairman of the Board of Supervisors, proposed the name “Solebury Park.”

Other suggestions, such as “Laurel Park,” were set aside because they were already in use by existing township parks with amenities like baseball and soccer fields.

The supervisors have unanimously decided to seek further input from the Park & Recreation board and have tentatively proposed names such as “Solebury Central Park” and “Solebury Center Park,” with a final decision yet to be made.
