Philadelphia has been labeled by Food & Wine as one of the top cities in the United States for bakeries.

Baking has a prominent role for people nationally and across the globe and its popularity as a cooking technique has led to a multitude of bakeries, markets, and coffee shops.

A team of food and travel experts have ranked the top U.S. cities for baking and Philadelphia landed in the top 10, writes Dobrina Zhekova for Food & Wine.

One of the top bakeries in Philadelphia is Beiler’s Doughnuts. With its flagship location in Reading Terminal Market and another on Chestnut Street, you can enjoy a number of delicious donuts.

Merzbacher’s, an old-school bread bakery, is known for reimagining classics into delicious and inventive breads.

Another prominent bakery is Isgro Pastries. With its 120-plus year history, the fourth-generation bakery is one of the city’ most beloved and has won numerous awards for its delicious cookies and cannoli. It was also nominated this year for a James Beard Award in the Outstanding Bakery category.
