Doylestown native Joe Montone is launching a nonprofit to create greater access to live music in unconventional spaces, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The 34-year-old will soon be introducing Stage United, and already has a wealth of experience collaborating with non-profits such as The Tileworks of Bucks County, Doylestown Pride Fest, James A. Michener Art Museum, Puck, and more to book artists.

The non-profit will officially launch May 11.

“People connect with music in such an indescribable way,” Montone said. “If you can provide a platform of providing that moment for people, it’s really special.”

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he spearheaded Picnics on Pine which allowed artists and the community to gather for live shows safely.

Montone’s Stage United aims to regularly utilize unique locations and community venues. The inaugural event will coincide with the season’s first Picnics on Pine, showcasing a variety of skilled artists from across the region.
