Daughter of Willistown’s M. Night Shyamalan Set to Release Debut Director Film
Willistown resident Ishana Night Shyamalan is following in the footsteps of her famous director father, M. Night Shyamalan, according to a staff report from the American Kahani.
The 22-year-old has recently released the trailer for The Watchers, her debut film starring Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan, and Olwen Fouere.
The movie is an adaptation of A.M. Shine’s gothic horror novel of the same name. It follows Mina, an artist who gets stranded in a forest in western Ireland. She soon finds shelter, but her relief turns to horror when she realizes she is trapped with three other people who are being watched and stalked by mysterious creatures every night.
Ishana graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, her father’s alma mater. She has previously worked on music videos and short films, and joined her father on his The Servant show as a writer and director.
The film is produced by her father through his Blinding Edge Pictures production company.
“I’d seen Ishana’s short films, I’d seen her writing, and I saw this opportunity,” he said.
The Watchers is scheduled to release on June 7.
