Local Kid-Friendly Activities To Enjoy From March 8-10

This month is flying by and hard to believe it is time to plan family activities for the second weekend in March! With a mixed forecast of rain and sun predicted for Saturday and Sunday, it is worthwhile to have a variety of local indoor and outdoor options ready on the calendar.

Have a Lego Ninjago fan? Check out the new Dragon’s Rising event this weekend at the Legoland Discovery Center in Plymouth Meeting. “Journey To The Past” with Pennsbury High School’s talented students for the musical production of “Anastasia,” and grab a good viewing spot on Sunday at Philadelphia’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

These are my top three picks for a family fun-filled weekend:

LEGO NINJAGO Dragon’s Rising Event

NINJAGO Dragon's Rising Event
  • Legoland Discovery Center Philadelphia, Plymouth Meeting Mall, 500 West Germantown Pike in Plymouth Meeting
  • Hours: Saturday, 10am – 7pm; Sunday, 10am – 5pm
  • On-Going Until March 17th

Celebrate “Dragon Power” at Legoland Discovery Center’s Ninjago Dragon’s Rising Event, which will delight any devoted fans of the popular television series. The added attraction offers some cool experiences, such as ninja training with the Playmakers, building a baby dragon, and rocking at the dance party.

Kids will also enjoy meeting their favorite Lego characters, collecting points on the interactive ride, and audience thrills at the 4D cinema.

Pennsbury High School’s Anastasia

  • Pennsbury High School East at 705 Hood Blvd, Fairless Hills
  • Dates: Friday, March 8 @ 8pm; Saturday, March 9 @ 8pm; Sunday, March 10 @ 2pm

Purchase tickets to the high school’s musical production of the beloved show, “Anastasia,” which is a stage adaptation of the 1997 Disney animated film that was voiced by Meg Ryan and John Cusack.

Go along for the ride to watch orphan Anya travel through Russia in an attempt to learn if she is truly the missing member of the Romanov family. Enjoy the well-known tunes, including the uplifting “Journey To The Past,” and the haunting waltz, “Once Upon A December.”

Philadelphia’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade

  • Sunday, March 10, 11am
  • Parade route begins at 16th and JFK Blvd. and ends on Dock Street

Reminder to set the clocks back on Sunday morning for Daylight Savings Time before heading to Center City for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

For over 250 years, Philadelphia has celebrated the Irish holiday each year with an incredible lineup of performers, and this year will not disappoint. Locate a decent viewing area and participate in the joyous festivities on the city’s lively streets!
