Penn State Great Valley will launch a new Project Management Office (PMO) Fundamentals Certificate program in April.

This 7-week, 21-hour, remote delivery, hands-on certificate program will explore the various processes, capabilities, and good practices in the building and running of PMOs.

Throughout the course, students will discuss multiple cases and review good business practices for both traditional PMOs and the recently evolving Agile PMOs.

The certificate will be delivered by Adam Selverian, a faculty member who is an expert in project management (PM) and is a practitioner in the PM world.

It is designed for project professionals working with PMOs including: project managers (IT or non-IT), PMO managers and team members, project team members for all projects, business analysts and project leaders who want to learn more about a PMO.

This certificate is also ideal for those already holding a PMP credential who are looking to earn PDUs to maintain their standing with PMI.

Students will be encouraged to discuss and share their experiences. The course will also provide selective tools and templates that will focus on key objectives, including understanding the key strategic drivers that underpin the required support for PMOs as well as evaluating the strategic alignment to ensure continual linkages between the PMO and the organization strategy.

“The PMO certificate at Penn State Great Valley was designed for professionals working in the PMO space and will provide them with a recognized credential that demonstrates their knowledge and skills in project management practices specific to PMOs,” Selverian said.

“This certification can enhance credibility, increase job opportunities and potentially lead to career advancement within the field of project management. Additionally, it ensures that individuals are equipped with the necessary competencies to effectively manage projects within a PMO framework, leading to improved project success rates and organizational performance.”

Penn State is a Project Management Institute authorized training partner and is committed to enhancing the ongoing professional development of both current and future PMI Members, PMI-certified Project Management Professionals , and other project management stakeholders.
