Bucks County commissioners approved engineering services for a planned solar energy farm on county-owned land in Bristol.

Bucks County commissioners approved engineering services for a planned solar energy farm in Bristol, writes Dino Ciliberti for The Patch.

Bucks County General Services Department’s director of operations, Michael Connelly, said that the county could sell power back to PECO. In turn, the neighborhood would get rebates from the energy company.

Connelly cited many benefits of this solar farm, set to be on county-owned land off New Falls Road. He said that the energy farm will help Bucks County save $562,000 in the first year.

He also said the farm’s use would be equal to taking 1,500 vehicles off the road.

Montco-based Schiller and Hersh were voted to be hired unanimously for engineering services and construction consultation.
