The Boone Farm barn is now being renovated to become the future site of the African American Museum of Bucks County.

The African American Museum of Bucks County is making steady progress at Boone Farm in Middletown Township, writes Dino Ciliberti for The Patch.

Since 2014, the African American Museum of Bucks County (AAMBC) has operated as a mobile museum, bringing its exhibits to various community locations

In a significant development, it’s set to establish a permanent residence at Boone Farm next year.

The property, vacant for nearly 40 years and stripped of many essentials, presents a unique renovation challenge.

However, groundbreaking efforts began in November 2022 to restore and transform it into a vibrant museum space.

With renovations including the installation of utilities, period-appropriate siding, new windows, and the conversion of the farmhouse to include exhibit spaces, a classroom, and a research library, the project is a $6 million endeavor.

The museum is seeking further financial support through “Build the Dream,” inviting donations and corporate sponsorship to enrich this cultural landmark.
