The New Hope-Lambertville Toll Bridge introduced a third toll payment option Wednesday, Jan. 17, allowing drivers to pay by plate.

The project to rehabilitate the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge is in motion, as set-up activities began Tuesday, according to the New Hope Free Press.

The iconic bridge connecting the two popular tourist destinations between New Jersey and Bucks County will see a color-changing LED lighting system that enhances its visual presence on the Delaware River waterfront.

Anselmi & DeCicco Inc. was awarded $25 million by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission to revitalize the 119-year-old bridge, as well as its approaches and abutments.

The project through mid-April involves the replacement of walkway panels and railings, the repairing of the steel superstructure, and creating new approach sidewalks.

Construction will begin following the prep work on Jan 22, which will restrict the Pennsylvania-bound roadway on the bridge to a single open-travel lane. Vehicles heading towards Jersey will take the U.S. 202 bridge.

The walkway will still be open during January’s construction until closing at a soon-to-be determined date.
