Newtown Native Holdyn Barder’s ‘Go Birds’ is the New Anthem Fueling Eagles Fandom
Holdyn Barder, a country singer from Bucks County, is stirring the spirit of football fans with his new release, “Go Birds (Acoustic),” writes Beatrice Forman for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The song celebrates the Philadelphia Eagles, taking a playful jab at their long-time rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.
The acoustic track, now streaming on all major platforms, narrates the story of an Eagles fan winning over a girl from a Cowboys supporter.
Barder’s catchy lyrics, “E-A-G-L-E. Add an ‘S’ for bein’ so sorry,” have already captured the attention of Eagles fans and the team’s official Instagram account, which praised the song.
The 25-year-old Newtown native, a lifelong Eagles fan, wanted the song to embody the essence of Philadelphia and its underdog spirit.
With connections to stars like Taylor Swift and a growing presence in the music industry, the Eagles’ influence is undeniable.
The team’s charity Christmas album topped the Billboard charts and country music icon Zach Bryan’s vocal support for the team illustrates this cultural impact.
Despite the Eagles’ recent on-field struggles, Barder remains hopeful. His song, he says, is a reminder to the team and fans alike that Philadelphia stands united behind the Eagles, especially as they aim for a Super Bowl comeback.
