Central Bucks East High School senior Maryam Abdel-Azim has been named a finalist in the prestigious Regeneron Science Talent Search 2024, according to a staff report from TAPinto Doylestown.

Maryam Abdel-Azim’s selection is particularly notable as she is among only 40 finalists chosen from a pool of over 2,000 applicants.

The Regeneron Science Talent Search, now in its 83rd year, focuses on young scientists who exhibit a unique blend of STEM talent, dedication, and leadership skills, all essential for advancing society.

This year’s finalists, initially narrowed down to 300 from the larger applicant pool, demonstrated their innovative thinking through a range of research topics.

Abdel-Azim’s research focuses on using the drug Mucin to target signaling molecules of a germ called Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Each finalist is guaranteed a minimum of $25,000 and will compete for $1.8 million in awards this March in Washington, D.C.
