Doylestown couple Paul and Aarati Martino donated $100,000 to Bucks IU Fab Lab Center to support STEAM education in Bucks County, according to a staff report from WFMZ 69 News.
The center is home to digital fabrication and computer science equipment which is paired with age-appropriate curricula that helps engage and educate youth of all ages.
“We are grateful for this contribution from the Martinos and are excited to see Bucks County residents committed to the growth and expansion of STEAM education in the county,” said Dr. Mark Hoffman, Bucks IU Executive Director.
The couple made the donation to help local kids compete in a global economy that is becoming more and more dependent on technology.
“The Fab Lab is exciting to me because it started as a mobile van going to schools to teach kids about concepts using 3D printing and NextGen manufacturing,” said Paul Martino.
“I’ve been following the Fab Lab since before COVID and have always appreciated its focus on STEAM education for students in Bucks County,” added Aarati Martino.
The donation is also connected with a broader push for STEAM education in Pennsylvania.
