New Mixed-Use Complex in 19th-Century Building a Microcosm of Sellersville’s ‘Transformative Change’
Maple Lofts, a new mixed-use complex housed in a 19th-century building in Sellersville, blends luxury living with retail potential, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The transformation of an old cigar factory into Maple Lofts is part of Sellersville’s broader revitalization efforts.
“A huge plus for the borough,” Sellersville Borough Manager Eileen Bradley said of the complex. “It makes for a very great use of that property. The apartments are gorgeous, with beautiful views of the entire downtown.”
Maple Lofts features apartments with original, refinished hardwood flooring; vaulted ceilings; stainless steel appliances; granite countertops; and advanced security features like video intercoms and facial recognition technology. New residents will also receive a one-year membership to the Sellersville Theater.
The building’s history is rich, having served various purposes since its construction in 1892. After the cigar factory moved out in 1911, the building hosted a newspaper and magazine publisher, a pharmaceutical company, a sports manufacturer, and a fly-fishing supply company, among others.
Currently, Maple Lofts has 3,800 square feet of available retail space. The hope is to attract a destination business that complements the cultural district, with suggestions including eateries, breweries, or tasting rooms.
“Sellersville is undergoing a transformative change,” said Borough Council President Lois Dobson. “Our cultural district is growing and inspiring new investment.”
