American Community Journals Editorial Engineer

American Community Journals (ACJ) — the parent company of VISTA Today, MONTCO Today, DELCO Today, BUCKSCO Today, and PHILADELPHIA Today — is currently seeking an Editorial Engineer to work closely with its affiliate partners to elevate their profiles, grow their businesses, and strengthen their connections to the community.

This position is a hybrid of Editorial and Sales and will serve as an extension of ACJ’s affiliate partners’ marketing teams to ensure that all of their deliverables are being met.

The Editorial Engineer will write stories about ACJ’s affiliate partners, effectively demonstrating to them how ACJ’s “brand-safe” storytelling, reach, and distribution channels can help them cost-effectively spotlight their brands, stand out from the competition, and improve their online visibility.

The candidate must be career-minded and have experience in writing and editing news, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining regular communication with all affiliate partners.
  • Coordinating and hosting editorial planning conferences via Zoom with affiliate partners
  • Attending affiliate partners’ internal marketing meetings as invited to stay updated on news and to suggest potential stories.
  • Conducting interviews (as needed) and writing, editing, and posting original stories about affiliate partners.
  • Tracking the progress of each affiliate partner’s deliverables.
  • Researching potential affiliate partners to understand their core business and what type of content/stories they are sharing.
  • Working with Sales to create, refine, and present proposals to prospective affiliate partners that position ACJ’s capabilities and reach to achieve the affiliate partner’s business objective.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or the equivalent in work experience); excellent command of the English language; and professional writing and editing experience. He/she will be highly organized and detail-oriented and have a flexible mindset with the ability to pivot and multi-task. The person will have an appreciation of the region’s business, educational, and social culture. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and experience with WordPress and writing to SEO content standards are a plus.

This position is 100 percent remote. To apply, e-mail a resume and writing samples to Kim McGuane, President of American Community Journals, at kmcguane@acj.today.
