National Spotlight is on Local Elections As Bucks County Democrats Retain Their Commissioner Seats

Democrats are sustaining control in the Philadelphia suburbs, and incumbents Bob Harvie and Diane Ellis-Marseglia kept their spots as Bucks County commissioners following Tuesday’s elections, write Jesse Bunch and Jason Nark for The Philadelphia Inquirer.  

This pivotal race was watched on a national level, as Bucks County, along with the other Philadelphia collar counties are considered the barometer for the 2024 election.  

As for the Republicans, incumbent Gene DiGirolamo won the sole seat guaranteed for the GOP on the Bucks County commissioner’s board.  

Key issues in this year’s election involved election integrity, abortion medication access, and LGBTQ representation in education.
