The Bucks County commissioner race is the most competitive in Philadelphia’s collar counties and could indicate how the state – and maybe even the nation – will vote in 2024, writes Jesse Bunch for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Contests that happen in an off-year usually do not garner too much attention, but the Bucks County race has come into the spotlight this year. The county has been reliably purple and as such, it is seen as critical in both statewide and national races.
Bucks County is also home to a sizable number of moderate or ticket-splitting voters.
“Many of us view Bucks as a hotly contested place,” said Berwood Yost, director of the Franklin & Marshall College Poll. “It’s one of the most important bellwethers in Pennsylvania.”
