In a year marking its 75th anniversary, Gwynedd Mercy University has made quite the leap, ascending 71 spots in the U.S. News Best Colleges List, one of the most substantial jumps nationally, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

This achievement comes as U.S. News has updated its 2024 ranking methodology, placing a heightened emphasis on student outcomes and social mobility, aligning more closely with Gwynedd Mercy’s mission and goals, according to University President Dianne H. D’Emilio

D’Emilio highlighted that nearly 60 percent of the university’s students are first-generation college attendees, and an impressive 96 percent of recent graduates have secured employment.

To sustain and build upon this momentum, the university has embarked on several ambitious projects.

A notable development is the groundbreaking of the 65,000-square-foot Frances M. Maguire Healthcare Innovation Center, largely funded by a generous $10 million gift from the Maguire Foundation

These facility improvements, coupled with the U.S. News ranking, are anticipated to be a magnet for prospective students, a theory supported by a 20 percent increase in the incoming freshman class this fall compared to last year.

With the addition of a speech-language pathology program next fall and plans to introduce more health programs, Gwynedd Mercy is poised for continued growth and innovation.
