The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has shared a chart showing the changing color of leaves in the state.

The chart shows how a recent warm spell is slowing down the natural color changes of Pennsylvania trees, a common and beloved sight in the state every fall season. Green areas indicate that the foliage is starting to change, while, yellow areas are approaching their best color and orange areas are at their best color.

The vast majority of counties in the state’s southern half are in the green zone, with Bucks County and its surrounding counties included. Only Somerset County in the southwest was in the yellow.

Most of the state’s northern half was in the yellow zone, with counties like Lackawanna, Carbon, and Erie on the list. The northernmost counties were in the orange, such as McKean, Tioga, and Susquehanna.

“The pronounced cooldown expected over the weekend should kickstart a strong progression of color throughout Penn’s Woods,” the department said online.
