Brendan Bossard, pictured here on vacation, said his advice to fellow classmates and current students is to learn from your mistakes and rejoice in your victories!

After graduating high school in 1986, Brendan Bossard started college but initially dropped out to look for the right program. He re-enrolled into another college and completed his bachelor’s in social work in 1996.

He worked in the social work field for a few years, but the demands were draining, and he decided to explore other career options.

Bossard worked several jobs before landing a job in the medical records department at a local hospital in Philadelphia in 2008. He enjoyed working full-time in the medical records department and initially did not have any plans to re-enroll in school. However, his director noticed his interest in health information management and encouraged him to pursue the necessary credentials to become a medical records department director.

In pursuit of the best program, Bossard discovered Peirce’s Associate in Science in Health Information Technology degree. He decided to attend Peirce because it provided him with the flexibility he needed while working and taking care of his family.

“Peirce is a good fit for people like me who have careers and families to balance with school,” he said. “The schedules are flexible, and students can choose from online or in-person.”

He also loved the 7-week sessions because they enabled him to maintain half-time student status while focusing on one course at a time.

Bossard equates part of his success to the support of the professors he has at Peirce.

“The professors are helpful and always available by email and phone when needed,” he said. “The professors have always been patient with my expectations, questions, and critiques.

His advice to fellow classmates and current students is to learn from your mistakes and rejoice in your victories!

“College can be hard, you may not grasp some subjects as easily as you would like,” he said. “You may have trouble balancing school and work. Your efforts will pay off if you stick with it and listen to the advice of your teachers.”
