An estate for sale in Lumberville boasts a kitchen designed by Julia Child, and is also the place where Child and her husband Paul had their wedding reception, writes Liz Spikol for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Buckshire belonged to Charlie Child, the twin brother of Paul.

“When Julia was working on her cookbook, the measurements are quite different in France than they are here,” said current homeowner, Millena Coffey, “so she would send the recipe to Charlie’s wife, Freddy, and they would test things here.”

The kitchen, as intriguing as it is with its high countertops that were made to accommodate the 6-foot-2-inch-tall Child, was not the biggest draw for Coffey and her husband Tom when they first came to visit three decades ago.

For them, one of the showstoppers was the dining room, with its painted walls. The mural is an example of Charlie Child’s artwork, who also painted a mural at the Doylestown Post Office.

In addition to the six-bedroom, five-bathroom main house, the estate is also home to a one-bedroom cottage.

The home is listed at Kurfiss Sotheby’s for $3.2 million. You can see more of the house as featured on BUCKSCO.Today’s Meridian Bank House of the Week.
