A community in Bucks County is celebrating the life and achievements of a longtime firefighter, who has kept his community safe for decades.

James Thorpe has worked for various fire safety agencies in the Bensalem for many decades. Now, he is celebrating 70 years of service to the residents of Bensalem Township.

“Jimmy began his career with Trevose Fire Company before joining the ranks of 65,” the Nottingham Fire Department said online. “Jimmy is known as a well respected instructor throughout the region.”

Along with his work with Station 65, Thorpe also spent many years as a Bensalem Fire Rescue employee. He has led the Bensalem EMS’s technical rescue training for nearly a decade. His training has been credited with helping to improve the careers of countless Bucks County safety officials.

To those he has worked with, he has collected various nicknames, including “Jimmy John”, “Jimmy”, “Rope” and “Knot Guru”.

“Congratulations Jim and we are thankful to have you helping guide our members!”
