Deaf since the age of 5, Morton is almost done with his nationwide journey.

An advocate for the deaf is close to completing his mission of walking across America, and he just made his way through Bucks County.

Chris “Salt” Morton, originally from California, lost his hearing at the age of 5. Now at 28-year-old, he is on a mission to change the perspective people have of those labeled “disabled”, a term he hopes to redefine through his long journey.

“On August 4th, 2022, I gave up nearly everything I owned and began my walk across the country,” Morton wrote on his website, Walk with Salt. “I began in Venice Beach, California, and plan to walk all the way to the New Jersey Shore, landing there sometime in 2023.”

Morton has been keeping his supporters updated with regular social media videos and posts about where he is and the people he has come across on his long journey. A few days ago, Morton was making his way through Newtown and Richboro as he headed over state borders toward his final destination.

“Update! Found someone who’ll be bringing me back to Newtown tomorrow to continue where I left off at!”

He will complete his long journey on July 4 when he arrives in Ashbury Park, New Jersey.
