A veteran from Bucks County was recognized for his service, and two towns have decided to honor him with local ceremonies this week. Dino Ciliberti wrote about the local veteran for the Bensalem Patch.

David A. Christian, a resident of Levittown, was inducted into the National Military Hall of Fame recently for his service in the Vietnam War which earned him seven Purple Hearts along with the Distinguished Service Cross, two Silver Stars, a Bronze Star, the Air Medal, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He also received two Vietnamese Crosses of Gallantry.

Before the ceremony at West Point, Bensalem organized the first “Hero’s Welcome Home” of the week on Tuesday at the Bensalem Township Municipal Complex. There Christian was honored by Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo.

“He’s a well-decorated veteran who lived in Bensalem for a little while,” said the mayor. “I’ve known him for years. He has an incredible record.”

The second ceremony will take place on Saturday at noon in Newtown. This will be held at the NAC jointly with the celebration of Armed Forces Day.
