Springfield Township Supervisors Approve Controversial Quarry Proposal

After years of discussions, supervisors of a township in Bucks County will be moving forward with a controversial construction project. Staff writers at WFMZ 69 News wrote about the project.
Officials of Springfield Township have decided to continue moving forward with a controversial quarry proposal, which has been the center of much discussion in the upper Bucks County area for years.
Supervisors recently granted conditional-use approval to H&K’s proposal for a quarry on 196 acres of industrially-zoned property off of Springfield Street and Salem Road.
The decision has remained controversial in the area as many residents and businesses feel the construction and the supervisors’ decision goes against the community’s interest. The Clean Air Council said the decision defies the wishes of those living in the community, and that the construction might become a nuisance to local residents.
More developments will be made on this project in the near future.
