Bucks County Community College Honors Several MLK Dream Builders, Young Scholar

The school acknowledged several local residents and a very young student.

Bucks County Community College capped off Black History Month celebrations with its second annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dream Builders Awards ceremony at its Newtown campus on Feb. 23.

The college honored four leaders of community, corporate, humanitarian, and student organizations who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and service to nondiscrimination, regardless of an individual’s station in life.

Those who were acknowledged include Student Dream Builder Lateefat Adewale of Croydon, Corporate Dream Builder Dr. Vail Garvin of Warminster, Humanitarian Dream Builder Karen Downer of Bensalem, and Community Dream Builder Adrienne King of Perkasie.

Dr. Felicia Ganther, college president, also acknowledged David Balogun, the Bensalem resident who graduated high school at age nine and is now enrolled at the community college.

More than 150 people gathered in the Linksz Pavilion at Bucks County Community College in Newtown on Feb. 23 for the second annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dream Builders Awards. The ceremony included music from the college’s Madrigal Singers and Jazz Faculty Combo (Eric Parker, Bucks County Community College).
