The Philadelphia Business Journal has declared this years honorees for the 2022 Most Admired CEO Awards, a class of 26 individuals from 25 companies, including a Lifetime Achievement Award winner. CEO Mike Capone of King of Prussia-based Qlik was among those recognized, writes Lisa Dukart.

Capone was named CEO in 2018. He recalls his most distinguishing moment as CEO to be the execution of the largest acquisition in the company’s history, which was when they transformed from being a one product company to an end-to-end platform. Further acquisitions include companies like NodeGraph, Big Squid, and Blendr.io.

Some of the philosophies he leads by are leading from the front and to never ask someone to do something that you aren’t willing to do yourself. Additionally, he admires his father as a business leader.

To build a high-level of trust within Qlik, he said feedback is honest and constantly ongoing. Each member of the staff talk openly and are transparent with one another when it comes to communication.

When faced with a tough business desiccation, Qlik does what Qlik does best: look at data.

“I want to make sure we’re making decisions based on what’s really happening in the business,” said Capone. “I also pressure test with key stakeholders what I’m seeing in the data and hearing to gather additional context. This combined approach helps us to make well-informed decisions quickly.”
