The New Year calls for major life changes, including your career. Some experts say that the holidays are the best time to apply for new jobs. Forbes contributor Christine Y. Cruzvergara gives four useful tips on how to prepare for a job search in 2023.

Consider Your Priorities

There are a lot of reasons why someone would want to find a new job. Perhaps it makes a higher salary, provides more stability, or a better work-life balance. Some people want to transition from the office to working remotely. Others want a career that sharpens their skills or is in a field that intrigues them. Consider why you want a new job and think about what works best for you!

Tap into Your Network

Have any friends you haven’t talked to in a while? Or do you want to muster up the courage to make a new connection? Either of these options will be great for your career journey. Online communities also help you spark a conversation virtually and connect with people who can steer you in the right direction.

Learn New Skills

Refining your skills and expanding your abilities looks impressive to employers. Taking online or in-person classes is a useful way to go about this.

Pay Attention to the Job Market

Some fields are more successful than others right now and might have more job openings available. Keeping an open mind might land you a role in a field you didn’t expect! But it might be just what you need.
