A Bucks County basketball team recently helped to continue a longtime tradition that helps those in need during the holiday season. Tom Moore wrote about the traditions continuation for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Thanks to the Council Rock South boys basketball team, a tradition that helps families that need it the most during the holiday season continues to flourish. A group of Golden Hawks varsity, junior varsity, and freshman players headed to Target in Oxford Valley over the weekend to buy clothes, video games, toys, and gift cards for a local family in need.

The team members wrapped the gifts and then delivered them to the preselected family of four to put under the Christmas tree and open on Christmas Day.

The initial gift-giving was organized by former Council Rock South boys basketball booster club president Rita Conway in 2007. Fifteen years later, the program is still going strong.

“I think the main thing is it really kind of puts it into perspective how fortunate we are and how privileged we are to be able to do the things we do and even have gifts on Christmas,” said senior captain Matt Robinson. “It’s something we all tend to take for granted at times and something that should really mean so much.”
