n addition to their job postings, Indeed also has a wealth of knowledge about advice that can help you, such as their tips on how to transition to a job that excites you.

Here’s a breakdown of what you could do differently.

Talk to a Career Counselor

You don’t have to figure it out alone! Speaking to someone with expertise can often give you the insight you need to find new opportunities.

Look Beyond Salary

Money can fix a lot, but it can’t grant you a sense of purpose or emotional satisfaction. That’s not to say take a job that barely pays, but look for a better balance between salary and enjoyment.

Examine What Interests You

What do you think is interesting or exciting? Now think, what can you do related to that that would allow you to make a salary?

Solicit Advice from Friends and Family

Sometimes an outside observer sees things clearer than you do. Ask others how they would describe your interests and what they feel you get passionate about.

How Do You Work Best?

Sometimes it’s the work environment that determines your happiness. Do you need a consistent schedule? Have you grown to prefer remote work? What work style is best for your productivity?

Build Up New Skills

Does the job you really want require abilities you haven’t developed yet? Start looking into classes or workshops to develop those skills.

Research Companies You Like

That company you like might sound good at first glance, but make sure you investigate. Does their work culture operate the way you prefer? Look beyond what they do to make sure you approve of how they do it.

You have nothing to lose by exploring your options, so see what else is out there. Don’t let yourself feel trapped in a job you don’t want.

If you want to know more about how each of these steps can bring you closer to a job you love, certainly be sure to check out Indeed’s post here.
