The YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties seeks teenage girls who, rather than frittering away their summer gazing endlessly at a phone, are eager for some self-esteem building. The details on its Empower U camp were presented by Maya Lindsay, Marketing Intern, on the Y’s website.

The program is free (!) and pitched at girls in grades 7–10. It runs for one week at three area Y sites:

  • Doylestown: July 26–30; August 2–6
  • Fairless Hills: June 28 to July 2
  • Quakertown: August 16–20

The sessions’ aim is to strengthen girls’ confidence through a program that includes physical activity, leadership opportunities, and volunteer projects.

Girls taking part will connect with information on wellness, wellbeing, nutrition, journaling, and yoga.

Participants also get a free three-month membership to the Y, as well as access to its online wellness platform. This virtual coaching class, called Y Wellness 24/7, connects users with YMCA coursework from across the nation.

Space in Empower U is limited; participants looking to lock in a slot should do so quickly, online.
