Local Fire Company Rescues Tenacious Jack Russell Terrier from Fully Committed Pursuit of Groundhog

By

The West Chester Borough Fire Department rescued Chloe, a two-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix, who broke free from her owner and managed to get stuck chasing a groundhog, writes staff for 6abc.

A little before 5:30 p.m. on May 12, Chloe became wedged in between a slab of concrete at the 600 block of Tower Lane in East Bradford Township. She got jammed while pursuing the critter, so laser-focused that she ignored the tight situation she faced. Firefighters were called to rescue her shortly after.

It took them an hour and a half to free her, and she was carefully removed with no serious injuries.

“Chief Officers along with crews from Ladder 53 and Brush 51 began to dig and carefully move large concrete slabs in attempts to free Chloe,” wrote the fire department in a Facebook post.

Despite this adventurous incident, Chloe did not catch the groundhog. She is now safe at home with her family.
