Be a Pal to Hal: Emaciated Dog Found Tied to Tree Is Now Adoptable at Main Line Animal Rescue

By

After a concerned citizen recently noticed an abandoned dog tied to a tree, Main Line Animal Rescue in Chester Springs took him in and has been preparing him for adoption, writes Jennifer Heller for 6abc.

Rescuers named the pit bull mix Hal, short for Hallelujah. They said he is around three or four years old and is a sweet and loving animal.

“Every bone in his body was visible, to the point where he looked like a skeleton,” the shelter wrote in a Facebook post.

Although he weighed only 43 pounds when rescued, Hal has since gained 10 more.

The Pennsylvania SPCA worked around the clock to care for him before he was transferred to the Chester Springs facility. He was placed on a refeeding program, which allowed him to slowly acclimate to a normal diet after going so long without proper nourishment.

“What’s remarkable about Hal is that he seems to not be shy around people or sad about his state,” said Nichola Redmond, site director at Main Line Animal Rescue. “He’s just happy to be around all the people here. So, I think he knows he’s getting good care, and he’s grateful.”
