The King of Prussia Mall may soon lose the title of one of the biggest malls in the country, writes Cukia M for the Construction Review Online.

Developer Triple Five Group is planning to construct American Dream Mall near Everglades National Park in Florida. The $4 billion retail and entertainment complex would be about double the size of King of Prussia Mall, which would make it the new largest mall in the United States.

The project is not a typical mall, but instead falls under the category of “destination malls” that often attract tourists from long distances. In fact, preliminary designs more resemble a theme park: they include an indoor pool with thrilling water slides, an ice rink, a ski slope, numerous restaurants, and up to 1,200 retail sites.

The project remains absent a specified timetable. While the developer has received local permission, the proposal still requires permits, funding, and a stormwater runoff infrastructure plan.
