priestess, Lowercased Local Musician, Was Inspired by Diverse Artists from Britney Spears to Kurt Cobain

Sasha Nadein grew up in Holland, Pa., with a set of parents who consistently encouraged her to greatness. That environment proved to be fertile ground for her musical talent, setting the young performer — now known as priestess (no capitals) — on a meteoric London career. Essex Magazine profiled her blessed good fortune.

Nadein took her natural talents and augmented them, with her parents’ encouragement, by listening to a wide variety of musical genres. By 15, she was writing her own music, and by 17 — under the name priestess — had released three EPs.

Another, shopping for smiles, is due in May; a single from it (“like me and you”) dropped last week on the usual download and streaming platforms. Both the album and the song adhere to her branding of no initial capital letters.

Her style, an eclectic blend of pop, pop-rock, and pop-punk, emerged from her exposure to artists that ran the gamut from Britney Spears to Kurt Cobain.

She feels comfortable as musical spokeswoman for her generation. “I want to remind young adults that we are still allowed to learn, grow, and have fun — even as everything we know seems to fall apart around us,” she said.

Not one to rest on laurels, priestess commits to pushing her music further.

“I’m a perfectionist, especially when it comes to my art,” she commented.
