Tallying the Towns: National 2022 Rating Reveals Best Bucks County Communities; One Ranks A+

Niche, the Pittsburgh data analysis firm, released the results of its 2022 assessment of U.S. towns and communities. The annual study considers quality-of-life factors such as public schools, housing, family friendliness, crime/safety, and diversity.

The Bucks County location with this highest score for this year (A+) is Woodside, less than two miles southwest of Yardley.

Niche reported: “Living in Woodside offers residents a rural feel, and most residents own their homes. Many retirees live in Woodside, and residents tend to lean conservative. The public schools in Woodside are highly rated.”

Woodside is enhanced by Niche statistics that include:

  • 18,400 median home value, well above the national average of $217,500
  • 45 percent of residents with a master’s degree or higher (nationwide rate is 12 percent)
  • Negligible report numbers for crimes such as burglary or motor vehicle theft
  • Median household incomes of $195,417, compared with $62,843 nationally

Three Woodside schools also contributed to the stellar ranking: Afton Elementary School, Pennsbury High School, and William Penn Middle School.

Woodside’s lowest rating — a C — was given in the diversity category.

The other Bucks County communities that rose to A+ scores were Buckingham Township, Newtown Grant, and Churchville.

Sixteen Bucks County towns in all were honored with A ratings.
