Odelia, Marie & Patrice — which creates beauty products, accessories, and home goods — recently opened in West Chester, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News

The shop on 117 West Gay Street is owned by Candice Parrish. It sells handmade candles, soaps, body butters, and more.

Odelia, Marie & Patrice was started after an herbalism class in Parrish’s Ph.D. program inspired her to begin selling her products online. Everything is eco-friendly and sustainable, with plastic-free packaging and ingredients that match Parrish’s vegan lifestyle.

Additionally, Parrish is an artist, public relations professor at Penn State University, and an active member of the community. She partnered with an inmate she believes is wrongfully convicted and created a handmade candle, from which a portion of the proceeds will be donated to work toward his freedom.

The shop’s name is derived from the middle names of Parrish and her mother and grandmother.

It was able to open, thanks in part to a small business grant from entertainer Beyoncé and the NAACP.
