At 82, Middletown Township resident Bob White is on career number five. His latest role, author, comes via his written guide to productivity. Kathryn Finegan Clark profiled this local can-do guy in the Bucks County Herald.

White grew up on a Washington Crossing farm, where he steered a tractor before most peers were balancing a bicycle. From there, he entered the Marine Corps (career number two), ran a construction company (vocation number three), and led the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority (RDA), where he rehabbed residences.

He’s now rolled all that experience into a book: Repurposing the Past: How a Former Farm Boy and Marine Helped Give Bucks County a 21st-Century Facelift.

“It’s a college-level book of how to get things done,” White said.

White described its contents as “entertaining tales unto themselves: stories of small-town politics, visionary developers, and ambitious, colorful personalities with a fair share of heroes and villains thrown in.”

The narrative chronicles various local projects, including their histories, issues, courses of action, and challenges met and unmet.

He said he wrote the volume as a means of helping other authorities, officials, students, and others curious about large-scale redevelopment.

More on Bob White — including where to get the book — is at the Bucks County Herald.
