An Amazon perk for associates is opening the way to Bucks County Community College degrees at no cost.

Amazon is helping its employees get the education they need to develop their careers by providing them with free college tuition for 180 colleges and universities, including Bucks County Community College. Sydney Lake cracked open the book on this program for Fortune.

The online retailer made the move following a June 2021 poll it conducted with Gallup. The results showed that 69 percent of adults who are either employed or plan to return to work are likely to leave that job for an employer providing up-skill opportunities.

As a result, Amazon announced it would invest $1.2 billion in its hourly employees. Part of these funds are for college tuition for operations workers. The initiative was officially kicked off in January as part of Amazon’s Career Choice program.

Last week, the company announced it was expanding the program by adding more than 140 colleges and universities to provide its hourly employees with a cost-free college education.

Among them is Bucks County Community College.

“We’ve really listened to our associates,” said Tammy Thieman, global lead of the Career Choice Program. “And our associates have told us that they’d like to be able to expand their Career Choice offerings and achieve career success.”
