In his weekly COVID-19 update, Dr. Scott Levy, Chief Medical Officer of Doylestown Hospital, continues to advocate for vaccination.

“We are reaching a new point in the pandemic.” That is the crux of this week’s COVID-19 update from Dr. Scott Levy, Chief Medical Officer at Doylestown Hospital.

Dr. Levy noted that much of Bucks County’s population is “well protected” against getting a case of COVID-19 serious enough to land them in an Intensive Care Unit.

We made this progress, he states, through the number of citizens getting vaccines and boosters and the steadily growing numbers of fortunate former COVID-19 patients who recovered and built up antibody protection.

Although things may be slowly moving toward normal on Bucks County’s streets, Dr. Levy says that under the hospital’s roof, the atmosphere is still very reflective of a major medical emergency.

“We still have almost 50 people suffering from COVID,” Dr. Levy said. “And although omicron may have lighter symptoms, for the people in the hospital, it’s still a very serious, life-threatening disease.”

Dr. Levy advised that diligence is the key to maintaining progress on the pandemic.

“Now more than ever is the time to be cautious,” he reminded. “Nobody wants to get this disease just a it’s rounding the bend and improving. Nobody wants to be the last soldier injured in a war.”

More insight on Dr. Levy’s guarded optimism on COVID-19 is in his video on Doylestown Health’s LinkedIn page.
