This Bristol family, thanks to the multiple participants in the Habitat for Humanity build (including this mom and her teenagers), has a new home for the holidays.

The December 16 dedication of a new Bristol Habitat for Humanity home is probably the best Christmas present Elaine and her teenage children could ever imagine.

For a long while, Elaine sought a place where she and her family could feel grounded, happy, and connected to their community. Having improved her financial skills through the Habitat Bucks financial-empowerment program, Almost Home, Elaine next applied for the home-ownership program and was approved.

The whole family then began their sweat-equity contributions to building their own house. As the project nears completion, the trio all looks forward to leaving their tiny and expensive apartment and purchasing a home of their own — just in time for the holidays.

The build crew also comprised volunteers from Habitat Bucks, the local faith community, and financial services–provider Thirvent.

This is Habitat Bucks’ 123rd home dedicated in Bucks County.

“It is an opportunity for us to put deeds to our faith and make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. It’s our chance to thank God,” said John Roesinger, financial advisor, Thrivent.

“Every Habitat home dedication is special, but being able to partner with Elaine and the local faith community, bringing her family ‘Home for the Holidays,’ is an extra blessing,” remarked Florence Kawoczka, executive director, Habitat for Humanity Bucks County.
