A Bucks County cold case, dormant for 30-some years, has advanced thanks to a DNA match that finally identifies the Warminster victim known only as “Clubhouse Jane Doe.” Jo Ciavaglia reported on the breakthrough for the Bucks County Courier Times.

In 1995, neighborhood kids found the body of a woman, wrapped in plastic and buried in a shallow grave near the Clubhouse Diner.

Analysis showed she had been there three years, but no match was made among local missing persons.

With no ID on her, she was dubbed a “Jane Doe,” with the location of her remains added to the pseudonym.

The search for her identity and her killer continued over the ensuing decades.

A recent match of her DNA sample on an international genetic database provided a breakthrough.

She has been identified as Merrybeth Hodgkinson, 31.

Bensalem Detective Chris McMullin is credited with reviving the case, based on his attention to it that started in 2002.

“I was dissatisfied with the original investigation,” McMullin said. “I felt a lot more can be done.”

More on this cold case is at the Bucks County Courier Times.
