Warminster’s Oat Haus Shark Tank Pitch: A Granola Spread That Tastes Like ‘Liquid Teddy Grahams’
Company leaders of the food brand Oat Haus, operating out of Warminster, pitched their spreadable granola butter on the October 22 edition of Shark Tank. Alicia Vitarelli of 6abc covered the reaction of the sharks to this “groundbreaking product.”
Ali Bonar, a company principal, created the flavorful spread after her struggle with eating disorders. She sought a nut-free, gluten-free, vegan alternative to staples like peanut butter and almond butter.
Inspired by the dietary benefits of oat milk, she tried it as a base for a granola-based, spreadable product.
She found the result not only nutritious and delicious but also worthy of filling a market niche.
“It’s smooth and people use it the same way you would a nut butter on toast, on fruit, in smoothies. Our original, I like to tell people, tastes like liquid Teddy Grahams. So, it’s sort of like that cinnamon graham cracker vibe,” Bonar says.
The enterprise was originally based in California, but the founders moved it east, to Bucks County, because they found it much more business friendly.
Although their pitch was animated and informative, none of the sharks bit. The high-profile appearance, however, boosted sales 300 percent over the weekend, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.
