With many companies still having their team members split between the office and virtual, it takes some adjusting to make things work. One important aspect to examine is how conference rooms function, as utilizing a pre-Covid setup can shortchange your telecommuters.

If you are trying to figure out how to make conferences better for your virtual participants, AVNetwork explains what you should consider changing.

Naturally, the first thing you need to look at is your technology. Devices with modern cameras, screens, and microphones are essential for not making virtual attendees an afterthought. But the lighting you rely on is also an important consideration.

A conference room lighting setup that is not designed with cameras in mind can leave some portions of the room washed out and others looking dim. If you are designing the room for consideration of cameras, having a specialist set up a system that focuses the light on the main seating areas will create a clearer focus on screens.

You also want to consider the construction of whatever room you are using for conferences. Too large of a room can create distorted echoes. And even the furniture in the room can create sounds issues. Noisy surfaces can create sharp, distracting sounds that cut over the person speaking.

Sometimes you may need to reexamine the room you are using altogether. Other times you might just need to invest in some better quality equipment. Or if you are lucky it could simply be a matter of changing how you have the room arranged.

Consult your virtual employees to see where things could be improved for them, and then speak with an audio expert to look for solutions.

If you want more information on how to implement these changes, be sure to read AVNetwork’s article about it here.
