U.S. Marine Sgt. Michael Howard makes daily trips to the Delaware County Veterans Memorial in Newtown Square where he creates emotional TikTok videos to reach veterans struggling with suicidal thoughts to give them hope and support, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.com.

“We’re burying 20 plus veterans a day,” Howard said. “It needs to be zero.”

Sgt. Howard spent eight years in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Every single day you were going to work, and you were surrounded by people that can relate to you,” he said. “But then you get out and you lose your mission, you lose your sense of purpose, and then, you’re just lost.”

Howard himself has overcome addiction, though he still battles post-traumatic stress disorder.

Helping him is his service dog, Cooper, from Alpha Bravo Canine.

After bonding with Cooper, Howard starting making social media videos to spread the word to other veterans about the help that’s available.

His videos have received two million likes and 240,000 followers.

The videos can be found under the name @coop_n_mike.

“This generation of veterans is going to save each other. Nobody else is going to do it for us,” he said.
