Lansdale’s Sean McDermott Is Not Letting Spotlight of Being Bills Coach Change Him
Despite Buffalo Bills being back in the Super Bowl conversation, the team’s coach, Lansdale’s Sean McDermott, is keeping his feet firmly planted on the ground, writes Jay Skurski for The Buffalo News.
McDermott was never entirely comfortable with the idea of celebrity, but he may have to get used to the spotlight.
In his four years as head coach of the Bills, he has overseen a turnaround that started with the end of a 17-year playoff drought which has continued with postseason appearances in each of the following years. He has now managed to completely alter the course of this struggling franchise.
And while most of the media had ignored the Bills until 2016, now things have changed significantly.
“Half the national media members are picking the Bills to go to the Super Bowl,” said Kyle Brandt, one of the hosts of NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. “It’s crazy.”
Meanwhile, McDermott continues to work on being the best coach that he can be, which means reinventing himself every offseason, keeping in touch with family.
“I’ve got to be better than I was the year before,” he said. ”If not, I didn’t put my time in.”
