Hail Marilu! Former ‘Taxi’ Star Marilu Henner’s Live Show Drives Audiences to Bucks County Playhouse
Stage and screen star Marilu Henner debuted her all-new club act, “The Marilu Henner Show,” in front of an enthusiastic audience at Bucks County Playhouse, on Saturday, July 29. The autobiographical show, which includes songs, dances, and stories from her life and career, runs through August 15.
Henner’s talents, probably best known from the cast of NBC’s Taxi, graced Broadway, 14 feature films, and a host of Hallmark movies.
She has a respectable list of Bucks County Playhouse credits and currently serves as a member of its Artists Board.
She is very excited to return to her “second home.”
“The Marilu Henner Show” employs one of her little-known but fascinating skills: hyperthymesia. That’s an ability to remember virtually every detail of every day of her life.
In an interview with New Jersey 101.5, Henner easily recalls her years on Taxi, which earned 18 Emmys and three Golden Globes (one nomination for Henner) during its multi-year run.
She still keeps in touch with the cast.
“We are so close. We have done ten Zoom calls since last March,” she said. “I just went to see Chris Lloyd in the Berkshires; Tony (Danza) came to see my show.”
Henner also touched on her feelings for Andy Kaufman, Taxi‘s manic comedian who succumbed to lung cancer in 1984.
“My Andy,” said Henner sadly. “I loved him.”
More on Henner and her show is available at the Bucks County Playhouse and New Jersey 101.5.
