A generous donation from the local chapter of 100+ Women Who Care is going to the Bucks County Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA). Founded in 1974, NOVA in Jameson supports, counsels and empowers victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes.

100+ Women Who Care Bucks County contributed $23,000 to further NOVA’s Child Advocacy Center (CAC). The CAC CAC is an interagency effort involving:

  • NOVA
  • The Bucks County Children and Youth Social Services Agency
  • The Bucks County Office of the District Attorney
  • All 48 in-county police departments

It provides a safe and child-friendly environment where staff, law enforcement, and medical and mental health professionals collaborate on investigating cases of suspected child abuse.

100+ Women Who Care Bucks County is unique among philanthropic organizations. Its fundraising efforts are simple but effective.

One hundred or more local women meet four times a year. Each attendee donates $100 per meeting to be donated to a local nonprofit — one organization per quarter.

Members nominate the potential recipients; a random draw determines the finalists. From that smaller pool of candidates, nominators make a case for their intended organizations. The group then decides by a quarterly vote.

Penelope Ettinger, Executive Director, NOVA, said: “We are very grateful that our Child Advocacy Center was chosen by 100+ Women Who Care Bucks County. This donation will allow us to both continue the center’s important work and help those children who need the center’s services.”
