If Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie needed a theme song for summer 2021, Paul Simon’s “Slip Sliding Away” is very appropriate. The tourist destination, whose reputation rests primarily on snow skiing, has set its sights on attracting a summertime crowd. Sinead Cummings, in PhillyVoice, gushed about how it’s doing that.

Bear Creek has given over its mountainous terrain to Slide the Slopes, a Houston-area company that provides an inflatable track and the H2O to slicken it.

The result is a water slide that is tall… and long. Like a mile and a half long.

At Bear Creek, the company set up 20 sluices, all ready for speed-demons eager to heat up their thrill factors while cooling down in the summer heat.

The attraction opens July 16 and will stay onsite until September 6. Operating hours are noon to 6 p.m., Wednesdays through Sundays, with possible last-minute closures owing to weather.

Riders must be at least four years old. Tickets are for as many slides as you can jam into a two-hour window.

Shoes are required; no boots or footwear that could damage the air-filled channels. Water shoes are assuredly less likely to be lost while hurtling down a mountainside than flip flops.

Parking is free.

More information on this cool attraction (in more ways than one) is at PhillyVoice.
