After suspending operations at the start of the pandemic, Wegmans Food Markets decided to completely shutter all of its “pub” restaurants, including pubs in Collegeville, Malvern, and King of Prussia, writes Ryan Kneller for The Morning Call.

Overall, the chain operated twelve Pub by Wegmans at its stores in Pennsylvania, New York, and Virginia.

“We know those who love our Pub restaurants will be disappointed to learn that we have made the decision not to reopen our 12 Pubs across the company,” said Wegmans spokesperson Laura Camera. “We are focused on applying our culinary expertise to the increasing demand for fast, casual meal solutions available in our stores, for pickup, and through delivery.”

The eateries used to serve dishes made with fresh ingredients from the store. The menu offered soups, salads, sandwiches, and entrees such as meatloaf and fish and chips, among other highlights.

The move has not caused any layoffs. All employees were offered immediate other positions within the company.

Wegmans – founded in 1916 and based in Rochester, New York – has 101 locations across several states, including 18 in Pennsylvania.
