Ah, the hotel concierge, that font of expertise on everything from theater seats to signature cocktails. Matthew Hoffer, at River House at Odette’s, carries in his brain an encyclopedia of New Hope best-ofs. His vast knowledge is only a guest question away, writes Barry Hoy for Passport Magazine. 

When asked about the best nook for cocktails, Hoffer cites an in-house destination: Roof, the members-only lounge at Odette’s (open to guests depending on availability). 

“The space itself is a 1970s inspired bar/lounge that encapsulates the glamorous art influences of New Hope’s heyday with spectacular views of the Delaware River,” Hoffer describes. 

As a backup, he recommends The Salt House, a colonial tavern.

Romantic dinner? Roof again. But off-property, he cites walkable Lambertville, for both Brian’s, a French bistro-style restaurant, and Lambertville Station. 

For must-see attractions, Hoffer says you can’t beat New Hope’s great outdoors. His opinion of the area landscapes is so high that he routinely “insists that visitors and guests take part.” He guarantees that photos taken at a Bucks County covered bridge will be Instagram hits. 

When questioned about celebrity or memorable guests, Hoffer maintains his professional discretion. 

“The most memorable guests are the ones that reciprocate your efforts to be friendly and hospitable,” he responded.
